Elton John Is Still Standing and Better Than He Ever Did

(Vulkan Mag)– In his biographical film, “Rocketman,” we learn just that; Elton John is a rocket man (A multifaceted superhuman: a prodigy, an indestructible force, an inspiration and social activist).

I rate “Rocketman” five stars, hands down. Duh, it’s about Elton John. Jokes aside, the film includes genuine and relatable content, fantastical filmography, outstanding performances, and much more.

The story begins with Elton John (played by Taron Egerton) as a child. We soon learn of the neglect and lack of love from his parents, Sheila and Stanley (played by Bryce Dallas Howard and Steven Mackintosh). At a young age, “Reginald Dwight,” as he was called, is seen demonstrating signs of a musical prodigy.

His passion for music continues into his teens and he meets his eventual songwriter and lifelong friend, Bernie Taupin (played by Jamie Bell). After joining DJM records, John’s music blows up. While on tour, he meets John Reid (played by Richard Madden), falls in love, and exchanges contract for Reid’s management company.

Reid uses and cheats on John, and the singer’s world falls apart. He is still under a contract with and controlled by his ex and his family does not accept his sexuality. John feels alone and hopeless and turns to drugs. After a suicide attempt and rehab John is back and better than ever with Bernie by his side.

But the movie’s strong suit is its truthfulness and the message left behind. John struggles with identity, alcoholism, drugs, family, depression, and self-love. The star admits himself to rehab and comes out stronger. No matter how many times you are knocked down, John has proved that things can and will change. He is now married with two kids, happier than ever.
